Google Secret Sauce

Why so much Google?

It's easy..... they listen.

Recently Robert Scoble interviewed Mark Lucovsky and they touched on a lot of the reasons so many developers love Google.

The interview revolves around Mark's work with the Google AJAX Search API and how they have produced a solid working product in a short time.

The Google secret sauce:
  • Develop for both beginning and advanced developers.
  • Give the code to the developers without restrictions.
  • Listen and respond.
And this is exactly how the AJAX Search API has progressed. In the interview Mark talks about how a self proclaimed "hick programmer from Mississippi" requested the video bar one day and Mark was able to take the idea and deliver a working product by early the next morning.

That type of relationship between a company the size of Google and an individual programmer goes a long way to building great products.
